Day Bag Made from Recycled Car Airbags

After you crash your car, but before you decide you’d be better off getting around by bike, you might consider ripping out the now-spent airbags and making them into a tough and light duffel bag.
Or you could skip the whole crashing business altogether (although you should still ditch the car) and just buy one of [...]

Billionaire businessman Carl Lindner dies at 92 (Reuters)

CINCINNATI, Ohio (Reuters) ? Billionaire Carl Lindner Jr., who went from his family's dairy business to become an owner of banks, insurance companies, and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, has died.

Lindner was 92 when he passed away on Monday, American Financial Group, where he was chairman, said in a statement.

Described as mild-mannered and private, Lindner was also known as fiercely competitive and an eternal optimist who carried a stack of cards bearing sayings such as "Only in America. Gee, am I lucky."

Early on in Norwood, Ohio, he drove his family's milk truck on dates, and much later he was sometimes spotted driving one of his Rolls Royce convertibles.

A risk-taker during the 1980s who picked up downtrodden companies, Lindner bought and sold a wide range of businesses from banana company Chiquita Brands International Inc. to the Penn Central railroad.

He bought the Cincinnati Reds in 1995 and bristled at criticism of his losing team, selling his majority stake five years later.

At one time he owned controlling interests in Great American Insurance Group, General Cable Corp, Hanna-Barbera Productions, Kings Island Company, the former Taft Broadcasting Company, The Cincinnati Enquirer, and The Provident Bank.

He launched his financial empire with a savings-and-loan and insurance company. Eventually, he shed many outside businesses except for American Financial Group, an insurance holding company with assets in excess of $30 billion.

A conservative who met with presidents, Lindner was among those behind a Cincinnati anti-pornography group, Citizens for Decency through Law, that sparked controversy in 1990 when it tried to block a Robert Mapplethorpe photography exhibition.

Lindner was widely recognized for his philanthropy, and was particularly generous to educational causes because he left high school to work in his father's dairy business.

"I like to do my giving while I'm living so I'm knowing where it's going," one of his cards said.

He is survived by his wife Edyth and three sons.

Giuliana Rancic Discovers She Has Breast Cancer During In-Vitro Fertilization Process (omg!)

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Giuliana Rancic discovered that her life was in danger as she and husband Bill Rancic attempted to expand their family.

"Through my attempt to get pregnant through IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer," the E! News and Style Network host, 36, said during an interview on NBC's "Today" show on Monday morning. "It's been a shock."

During Rancic's third round of in-vitro fertilization treatments, her doctor suggested she have a mammogram, something she was not planning to have for another four years.

"I wasn't prepared to get a mammogram until I was 40 years old, like I'd been told. I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong," she explained.

The TV host said the news came as a complete shock and that no one in her family has a history with breast cancer.

"I went into the hospital in LA, when they came in to tell me, they said it pretty quickly, they just said, 'I'm sorry, you have breast cancer.' It's what you expect, but so much more, it was like, incredible instant sobbing and the world just crashed down around me. I couldn't believe it - 36 years old, no family history? I couldn't believe it," she continued.

Rancic said her prognosis is good and she will have surgery this week and then undergo six weeks of radiation treatments.

By her side during her struggle has been her husband, who she said "been everything."

"Bill is unbelievable. He lets me cry when I want to cry, he doesn't say, 'Hey, look at that person who's worse off than you are.' He just lets me feel what I'm feeling," she said during Monday's interview. "I think a lot of us think we're invincible. But we have to start putting ourselves on the to-do list. I just want women out there to know if you can just find it early, you'll be OK. I found it early."

The TV personality - who suffered a miscarriage in 2010 - has also vowed to continue her attempts to get pregnant.

"I'm not gonna give up, I want that baby. And what's amazing is that baby will have saved my life," she explained. "Now I truly believe that God was looking out for me. Had I gotten pregnant [earlier], a few years down the line I could be a lot sicker."

Kanye West, Maroon 5 to serenade lingerie models (AP)

NEW YORK ? Top models Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr and Doutzen Kroes will strut in the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show to live musical performances by Kanye West and Maroon 5.

The catwalk event, which also will include VS models Erin Heatherton, Candice Swanepoel, Lindsay Ellingson and Lily Aldridge, will be filmed on Nov. 9 for a televised special later in the month.

The Nov. 29 one-hour show on CBS will incorporate behind-the-scenes tidbits, model profiles and red-carpet interviews surrounding the much-hyped lingerie show. Of course, several models will step out in the elaborate wings that have become a signature of this runway, and one will wear the jewel-encrusted Fantasy Bra.

Last year, that honor went to Adriana Lima.

In 2007, West pulled out of a performance at the annual Victoria's Secret fashion show due to the sudden death of his mother after she underwent cosmetic surgery.

West has been a front-row regular at fashion shows for years, and earlier this month he debuted his own collection during Paris fashion week.
