The whole Highlight interface has gotten a bit of an overhaul with Tuesday?s update, now offering a little more information about the people you encounter as well as new ways to interact with them. Information about people you encounter now appears as a side-scrolling card-like format where you can swipe through different pieces of information about a particular person.

Location-sharing app Highlight released a huge update Tuesday, adding a number of new features to the iOS version of the app and finally bringing the service to Android.
After a massive update four months ago, with Tuesday's release Highlight gets a bit more personal, adding an ?Expanded Summary? section where you can include information about your hometown, school, and relationship status. A new ?Things About Me? section lets you can share random facts about yourself, such as ?I use to live in London,? and a ?My Favorite Things? section allows you can share some of the things that are most important to you with the Highlight community.

?It?s about giving you more ways to share, and more ways to talk about yourself and the things you care about,? Highlight founder Paul Davidson told Mashable. ?Everyone has interesting things about them. A big part of what we do is surface those things.?
The ?Favorite Things? section in Highlight is populated in part by things you have liked on Facebook. You can also add anything else you want. When you add a new like, Highlight will prompt you to give a little explanation of why that particular thing is important to you. For instance, you might add the Wii U as a like, and mention that you just purchased the console and love playing NintendoLand.
A new ?Let me know if...? section lets you ask the Highlight community to contact you for a specific reason.
?We see people using the app because they want to talk about something,? says Davison. The ?Let me know if...? section can be used to ask everything from ?Let me know if you know a good Mexican restaurant in New York City? to ?Let me know if you?re a web designer.?

On iOS, information about people you encounter now appears as a side-scrolling card-like format where you can swipe through different pieces of information about a particular person.
?Our goal is any time you see someone in your feed on Highlight there?s new and interesting things you can learn about them,? says Davison. ?The service is smart enough to know what pieces you might find most interesting,?
Now when you tap on someone?s profile on Highlight, you can pull that profile down to show a map of when you last encountered that person.
The Map view of an encounter also now shows hints of where other Highlight users are located around you. Event information is also now pulled into Highlight from Facebook, so you can see, for instance, that a friend is at a bar nearby attending another friend's birthday party.
When you are nearby friends, a new feature lest you give those friends a virtual high-five, fist-bump, or even a head-nod of acknowledgement. Davison says that the high-five feature in particular was one that Highlight users have been asking for. Specifically, users have wanted a way to acknowledge when they?re near friends in an unobtrusive way without there being any expectation of reciprocity.
Notifications also saw an update in Highlight 1.3. Highlight now sends fewer notifications, focusing more on those that will be meaningful for you, and uses custom sounds for those notifications so you know you?re receiving a Highlight notification rather than a text message.
The updated Highlight for iOS and Highlight for Android are available now.
