If you read a good book, either for pleasure or book club suggestions, which is considered one of the first things to be done? You can ask a friend. But word of mouth is largely dependent on personal preferences. If you want to want a more reliable indicator, you'll find book reviews.

Visit the public library and dig through editions of newspapers and magazines. Even better, many libraries subscribe to online databases, full texts of articles in newspapers and magazines have.
You can also go online at home. But most newspapers and magazines require subscriptions in order to get your files, so you do not always have access to all articles, but sometimes you get lucky and the right to find them on Google.
You can also go to major customers in the major online booksellers Amazon and Barnes & Noble. But the feedback from the customers seem to be together and is very idiocentric. It can be useful, but it is not always effective.
