This month the Maroondah Disability Advisory Committee will have it?s bi monthly meeting and on the agenda is psychiatric disability and mental health. Specifically we?ll be meeting with a staff member of EACH to discuss access to facilities that support physical health. We all know that physical health is an important ingredient to achieving and sustaining good mental health, but it got me wondering if we really consider this as part of a clients employment plan. I can?t recall seeing in any EPP a mention of supporting the client to gain good physical health as part of the road to employment.
But if you think about, employment isn?t sustainable without good physical and mental health. I?m not suggesting that we run a fitness class or buy gym memberships, but it might be worth thinking about who is supporting the client in this vital area that will affect employment outcomes.
