This Presidents Day weekend, Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site in Newburgh is celebrating George Washington's 281st birthday all three days. Events, which include military demonstrations, storytelling and visits with Washington re-enactor John Koopman, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Here, Koopman answers questions posed by Alex Neighbors, 8, front, and his friend Ian Stuercke, 9, both of Cornwall-on-Hudson. The military demonstrations will be presented by Lamb's Artillery, the 5th Connecticut Regiment and the 5th New York Regiment. There will also be magic shows and candle-dipping. All events are free. Visitors can learn how they can support Tower of Victory restoration efforts, and birthday cake will be served each day. For more information, call 562-1195. Born in 1732, Washington became commander in chief of the Continental Army in 1775. He served as the first president, from 1789 to 1797.
